Santa Monica, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2011) - Nickelodeon music group Big Time Rush gear up for a fury of excitement as they take center stage for a headline performance of their new single, "Boyfriend," live at Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, April 2, at 8 p.m. (ET/tape delayed for West Coast), hosted by Jack Black. Leading up to their Kids' Choice Awards performance debut, Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan will perform live on The View on Presidents' Day, Monday, Feb. 21, at 11:00 a.m. (ET/PT). Later that night, Nickelodeon will premiere the series' hour-long special, "Big Time Beach Party," guest starring Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek, HOP and Arthur) as himself, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards honors the hottest celebrities in music, TV, sports and film and will air live on from the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles. Kids will be able to cast their votes for this year's slimefest online at http://www.nick.com/kca11 beginning March 7 in a total of 20 categories. Surprise awards also will be announced during the show. Kids also will be able to vote via the Nick mobile website http://m.nick.com/kca11 and through a brand-new iPhone application. For the first time ever, KCA voting will be extended to an iPad-optimized site, TeenNick.com, and the Nickelodeon Facebook page, facebook.com/nickelodeon. The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is broadcast in more than 300 million households globally on Nickelodeon channels around the world.
In "Big Time Beach Party," Big Time Rush and the Palm Woods kids get to hang out at Griffin's beach house for the day. Carlos and Logan hunt for buried treasure, James falls for a pretty girl who he suspects is a mermaid and Kendall and Jo's relationship hits the skids. The special also features a performance of "Boyfriend" and a cover of The Beach Boys' song "Dance, Dance, Dance." Actor/comedian Russell Brand, who will lend his voice to the upcoming animated feature "Hop" due out April 1st, and will also star in the remake of "Arthur" alongside Helen Mirren on April 8th, with appearances by Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Gage Golightly (The Troop).
A co-production with Sony Music, the series premiere of Big Time Rush set a new record as the highest-rated and most-watched live-action premiere with kids, tweens and total viewers (6.8 million) in the history of Nickelodeon. Their debut album BTR, which consists of original songs from the hit series, entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at No. 3. They have now sold over 1.7 million combined digital tracks to date, and their single "Boyfriend" featuring Snoop Dogg is exclusively available for purchase on iTunes.
