18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards(R) Honoring the Year's Outstanding Performances Will be Simulcast Live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 29, 2012 From the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center
Los Angeles (Feb. 8, 2011) - Screen Actors Guild Awards(R) Producer Kathy Connell announced that the 18h Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards has been scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. The 2012 SAG Awards ceremony will honor the outstanding performances of calendar year 2011. The celebration of the year's finest acting achievements will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS, marking the 15th consecutive year the Awards have been telecast on television's destination for drama and 7th year on cable's top-rated comedy network. Timing for the 18th Annual SAG Awards nominations announcement and the full calendar of key dates for the 18th Annual SAG Awards(R) will be announced shortly.
This year's 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - which aired live on Sunday, Jan. 30, on TNT and TBS - was watched by 5 million viewers, up a solid 6% compared to the January 2010 simulcast.The combined TNT and TBS deliveries for the simulcast posted impressive audience demographic expansion, rising 30% in Adults 18-34, 13% in Adults 18-49 and 8% in Adults 25-54.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards(R) commend the year's finest achievements in acting in film and television, including the distinctive ensemble awards, which honor the collaborative performance by a cast in a motion picture and by the ensemble casts of both comedy and dramatic television series. SAG Honors lauding the work of television and film stunt ensembles are announced just prior to the Actor(R) ceremony.
Recipients are selected solely by the members of Screen Actors Guild. "Actors take great pride in being honored by their peers and look forward each year to the opportunity to celebrate together," commented Connell.
Nominees for the Screen Actors Guild Awards(R) and the SAG Honors are chosen by separate film and television nominating committees, each composed of 2100 actors, random-selected anew in the spring each year from the Guild's nationwide membership of more than 125,000 acting professionals. The entire active Guild membership is given the opportunity to vote for the recipients.
