Showtime(R) Leads All Networks in Golden Globe(R) Series Nominations
LOS ANGELES, CA - (December 14, 2010) - Showtime once again affirmed its place as an industry leader this morning, earning a record breaking eight Golden Globe(R) nominations - the most original series nominations for any network - broadcast or cable.
DEXTER(TM) earned its third consecutive nomination for Best Drama Series. Star and executive producer Michael C. Hall nabbed his fifth consecutive nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series - the most nominations for any actor in Showtime history. Hall won a Golden Globe earlier this year for his portrayal of "Dexter Morgan." For her role as "Lumen Pierce," Julia Stiles received her first ever Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
SHOWTIME also dominated the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical with Laura Linney, Edie Falco and Toni Collette all vying in the same category for THE BIG C, NURSE JACKIE and UNITED STATES OF TARA respectively. Toni Collette is a five-time Golden Globe nominee, and won the award earlier this year for her multiple roles on UNITED STATES OF TARA.
The freshman series THE BIG C and sophomore comedy NURSE JACKIE garnered two major nominations - Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series. Falco is a nine-time nominee and two-time Golden Globe winner; this is her second consecutive nomination for her role as "Jackie Peyton" on NURSE JACKIE. Linney, The BIG C's star and executive producer, is a five-time Golden Globe nominee and scored a win in 2009 for her role in JOHN ADAMS.
The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live coast-to-coast on Sunday, January 16, 2011 from Los Angeles.
