DESIGNER CANDICE OLSON REVEALS TRADE SECRETS IN HGTV'S "CANDICE TELLS ALL"
New Series Premieres Saturday, January 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT
New York, N.Y. [For Immediate Release--December 13, 2010] For more than seven years, designer Candice Olson has inspired millions of HGTV viewers with her dazzling room designs on the popular series Divine Design. Now, in her new HGTV series Candice Tells All, she goes a step further--to reveal precisely how she creates her signature designs. During the series, which premieres on Saturday, January 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Candice takes viewers through the ins-and-outs of her awe-inspiring makeovers, explaining her creative process from the first inspirational ideas to the final design installation. Candice also shares tips on design trends, answers questions about her personal design preferences and showcases her best designs in a makeover photo gallery on HGTV.com.
In Candice Tells All, the audience follows Candice as she travels the city to see design principles at work in other mediums and art forms. She invites viewers along as she gathers insider information from design industry professionals and artists who are doing extraordinary work beyond the world of interior design. At each stage of the process, Candice offers insight on the fundamental design principles that are at play, how this knowledge can be applied to any space and how to create a beautiful and functional room.
"People always ask me, 'What's the secret to beautiful design?'" said Candice. "For me, its unexpected inspiration mixed with classic design principles."
In the premiere episode, Candice meets homeowners Trevor and Nicole. The couple, who has two young children, says that their family room and dining area lack style and storage space. Understanding that beauty also must withstand everyday life, Candice finds inspiration in a free-form art piece that evolved into a favorite playground for kids. She implements this idea into her design by covering sleek sofas with waterproof outdoor fabric, adding a vintage steel locker for toy storage and a sturdy wood dining table that won't show dents and scratches from everyday use.
"In this series, Candice delivers breathtaking transformations and shares the steps she takes to create the look," said Kathleen Finch, general manager, HGTV. "By making her trade secrets accessible, Candice encourages our audience to seek inspiration everywhere."
Future episodes of Candice Tells All include how to design with monochromatic colors, how to create perfect lighting and how to mix vintage and contemporary designs into one seamless space.
