SUNDANCE CHANNEL ACQUIRES THE COMEBACK FROM HBO(R)
Critically Acclaimed Series from Sex and the City(R) Creator,
The Comeback Makes Its Basic Cable Premiere on Sundance Channel
November 23
New York, NY (November 8, 2010) - Sundance Channel announced today it
has acquired basic cable rights to The ComebackSM, the critically acclaimed
HBO original series starring Lisa Kudrow. Created by Kudrow and Sex and the
City creator Michael Patrick King, The Comeback will make its basic cable
premiere on Sundance Channel, Tuesday, November 23rd at 11PM (ET) and
will air regularly on Tuesday nights.
The 13-episode series is shot in the style of a reality show (also called The
Comeback). The show-within-a-show follows sitcom actress Valerie (Kudrow)
through her home life and her career resurgence. Kudrow was nominated for
an Emmy(R) Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her
performance in the series.
The Comeback will be paired with Sundance Channel's newest original series,
Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys, which explores the emotional and social
tensions that frame relationships between women and their gay best friends.
The series offers a fresh perspective on love, companionship, and the
meaning of "happily ever after". The unscripted series follows four couples,
revealing their personal dramas and emotions while also exploring the
dynamics of this new kind of relationship. Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys
will premiere Tuesday, December 7th at 10:30 PM (ET).
"The Comeback is a great companion to our new series Girls Who Like Boys
Who Like Boys. Both series feature entertaining, vibrant, colorful characters -
- people who aren't afraid of breaking conventions," said Sarah Barnett, EVP
and General Manager of Sundance Channel.
For Sundance Channel, Christian Vesper, SVP, Acquisitions, and Meg Bogdan,
Senior Counsel, were responsible for negotiating the agreement with HBO.
