LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has ordered four additional scripts of its new drama "No Ordinary Family" and its veteran soap "Brothers & Sisters."
Said orders are widely considered signs production will be extended on the series. Thus far, the Alphabet has ordered 13 episodes of "Family" and 18 installments of "Brothers."
In addition, one extra script has been asked of its midseason drama "Off the Map." The network revealed back in May it plans to air the series on Sundays at 10:00/9:00c once "Brothers" wraps its run on Sunday nights. Nevertheless, with "Brothers" likely sticking around for the full season - not to mention ABC's various issues elsewhere on its schedule - the Shonda Rhimes-produced series may wind up elsewhere.
Seven episodes of "Map" have been ordered with the script potentially being its eighth.
Meanwhile, the network has also booked a handful of holiday specials (all starting at 8:00/7:00c): "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" (Thursday, November 18); "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" (Thursday, December 2); plus "Shrek the Halls" and "Disney Prep & Landing" (Thursday, December 9).
They join the just announced "A Barbara Walters Special: Oprah, The Next Chapter" and "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2010" on Thursday, December 9 as well as "In The Spotlight with Robin Roberts: All Access Nashville" on Tuesday, November 9.
