OXYGEN DEBUTS TWO NEW SOCIAL MEDIA INITIATIVES AND RAISES THE BAR ON THE TELEVISION VIEWING EXPERIENCE
Voice and Social TV Check-in Enhance Real-Time Watercooler, OxygenLive
New York, September 14, 2010 - OxygenLive, a real-time watercooler destination where viewers socialize, interact, and react with Oxygen stars and fellow superfans during Oxygen shows, is introducing two new social media innovations to further enhance the fan experience, announced Jennifer Kavanagh, Vice President of Digital Media, Oxygen Media.
Starting with a new episode of "Bad Girls Club Miami," Tuesday, September 14 at 9 PM, Oxygen will offer a new feature, "Blurts", to add voice to OxygenLive.com in a new way that will truly allow its fans to connect "Out Loud". Blurts has added their proprietary voice annotation technology to OxygenLive.com's social stream, allowing fans to add "voice notes" to their posts. The interaction continues during the social experience on OxygenLive.com, with "Hair Battle Spectacular" at 10 PM. This inventive feature brings a fun, personal layer to the conversation like never before.
But the innovation doesn't stop there. Also on Tuesday, September 14, fans of "Bad Girls Club" can start checking-in virtually to the show to receive badges and unlock exclusive content! All they have to do is go to www.gomiso.com or download the Miso app on their mobile device, courtesy of Oxygen's partnership with Miso, a social TV check-in service. The more the viewers check-in, the more badges they receive, and two lucky fans per week will win a sweepstakes to take home signed posters from the "Bad Girls Club" cast! Miso is a social TV application available on the Web, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android-based devices.
