LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

COMMON LAW (USA) - Michael Ealy ("FlashForward") is the first to be cast on the drama pilot, about "two cops with a problem ... each other." He'll play one of them, Travis Marks, "a maverick ladies' man who served time in juvie." He can't stand his partner Wes Mitchell so their Captain sends them to couples therapy. Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley are behind the project, which comes from CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment.
DEXTER (Showtime) - Chris Vance ("Burn Notice") has landed a recurring role on the show's upcoming fifth season. He'll play Cole, "a meticulous, physically fit, well-spoken personal aide to a famous businessman," in at least three episodes. It's not clear when his first episode will air.
GOSSIP GIRL (The CW) - Sam Page ("Greek") is set to turn up on the upcoming season of the netlet's signature soap. He'll play Serena's (Blake Lively) new love interest in a multi-episode arc set to begin in October. No other details were given.
LIFE & TIMES OF TIM (HBO) - The pay channel has reportedly ordered a third season of the animated comedy, despite passing two months ago. Producer MRC Studios took the series to Comedy Central, Adult Swim and TBS before HBO ultimately decided to bring it back for another 10 episodes. Steve Dildarian, Leynete Cariapa, Mike Clements, Jimmy Miller and Tom Werner are the executive producers.
RAISING HOPE (FOX) - Kate Micucci ("'Til Death") is returning to the freshman comedy as Shelly, "the owner of a baby and doggy day care center." The actress was originally cast in the pilot as Michelle, the cousin of Lucas Neff's character. The role was subsequently recast as male, with Skyler Stone ultimately taking over. Executive producer Greg Garcia nevertheless remained high on Micucci and constructed the new character for her to play.
