Marissa Ronca Named Vice President of Development at truTV
Marissa Ronca has been named vice president of development at truTV, overseeing all aspects of the network's new program development slate. Ronca is based in New York and reports to Darren Campo, senior vice president of programming, production and development for truTV.
Previously, Ronca served as senior director of development. Ronca joined truTV in 2007 and has focused on programming to expand truTV's brand. She was part of the development team responsible for one of the most successful rebrands in cable history, and she worked on projects that include Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel and All Worked Up and the upcoming Hardcore Pawn and Ma's Roadhouse.
Before joining truTV, Ronca was director of development at TLC and Discovery Home Channel, where she was responsible for cultivating original programming for daytime and primetime series and specials. She developed the successful series Little People, Big World; LA Ink; and Say Yes to the Dress. She is also credited with developing TLC's first broadband series, Makeover Train.
Ronca began her career with Discovery Communications Inc. in 2001. She worked in production and development for Discovery Onboard/VOD and Discovery Networks International. In 2005, Ronca joined Brainbox Productions, an independent production company. She developed, wrote and produced original programming for such networks as HGTV, Style and Discovery, as well as Court TV, the predecessor to truTV.
Ronca's documentary film work includes serving as executive producer on the feature Crazy Sexy Cancer. She also produced the 2006 independent scripted feature film The Guatemalan Handshake. Ronca is a graduate of Syracuse University.
