SCIENCE CHANNEL'S BUILD IT BIGGER TOURS THE GLOBE IN SEARCH OF ENGINEERING PROJECTS THAT ARE CHANGING LIVES

-- Season Four Premieres Thursday, April 8, 2009, at 9 PM (ET/PT) --

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Back for a fourth season, host Danny Forster traverses the globe to examine jaw-dropping and life altering, feats of engineering in the Science Channel fan-favorite series BUILD IT BIGGER, premiering Thursday, April 8 at 9 PM ET/PT.

A professional architect by trade, Forster brings viewers unique perspective on the planet's most astounding and innovative feats of construction. From the largest cantilever on earth hanging 650 feet above Singapore to constructing the world's most powerful hydroelectric plant in Rio de Janiero to the city of New Orleans' massive two-mile storm surge barrier. Each project not only changes city skylines but alters life for the better for the city's inhabitants.

In each episode, Forster visits the biggest, most impressive job sites in the world to reveal groundbreaking ingenuity. He is there with insightful play-by-play when San Francisco's Bay Bridge undergoes a 6 billion dollar earthquake proofing project, when a 35 mile tunnel is built under the Swiss Alps and when the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands continues the most ambitious land reclamation project history to triple both its size and capacity.

"Danny is truly a thought provocateur - a pied piper for the how and why. He has a unique ability to get audiences excited and wanting more. BUILD IT BIGGER is emblematic of Science Channel's commitment to showcasing imagination and innovation unleashed," said Debbie Myers, Science Channel general manager.

"The projects BUILD IT BIGGER visits this season are not only massive in scope, but they also help improve the lives of people around them," said Danny Forster. "For instance, crews in San Francisco are installing the world's largest shock absorbers to protect the Bay Bridge from earthquakes, Switzerland is revolutionizing European transit with the Gotthard Base Tunnel, Rio de Janeiro is trying to solve power problems by constructing a new hydroelectric power plant and more. The ways in which innovative architecture and engineering are changing our lives are astounding."

This season, BUILD IT BIGGER will feature: the Singapore Sky Park; the Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait; New Orleans Storm Surge Barrier; Rio de Janiero's Power Island project; South Africa's Mponeng gold mine; San Francisco's Bay Bridge reconstruction; the new Melbourne Stadium; Gothard Base Tunnel; and Abu Dhabi's Central Market.

BUILD IT BIGGER airs weekly on Thursdays night at 9 PM (ET/PT) on Science Channel

BUILD IT BIGGER is produced for Science Channel by Powderhouse Productions. Joel Olicker and Dan Miller are executive producers for Powderhouse. Christo Doyle is the executive producer for Science Channel. Deborah Adler Myers is general manager of the Science Channel.
