AMERICAN CHOPPER (TLC) - The cable channel has pulled the plug on the veteran reality series after six seasons, TMZ.com reports. "The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run," a spokesperson told the site. The show's final episode airs this Thursday at 9:00/8:00c.
187 DETROIT (ABC) - Aisha Hinds ("Hawthorne") is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about "a fictional documentary crew that follows a top homicide division." She'll play Maureen Mason, a 15-year veteran lieutenant who's overworked and underpaid. John Michael Hill also stars in the hour, which comes from ABC Studios and Mandeville Films. Jeff Nachmanoff is directing from a script by Jason Richman.
THE EVENT (NBC) - Jason Ritter ("Parenthood") has landed the lead role on the drama pilot, about "a decent, regular fellow who battles against mysterious circumstances that envelope a larger conspiracy." He'll play Sean Walker, said fellow, in the project, which comes from creator Nick Wauters and Universal Media Studios. Russ Buchholz and Steve Stark also serve as executive producers.
HAWAII FIVE-O (CBS) - "Lost" co-star Daniel Dae Kim is the first to be cast on the drama pilot, an update of the classic cop series. He's on board as Chin Ho Kelly, a role played by Kam Fong in the original series. Meanwhile, Alex O'Loughlin ("Three Rivers") is reportedly in talks to topline the hour as Steve McGarrett. Alex Kurtzman, Peter Lenkov and Roberto Orci co-created the project, which is set up at CBS Television Studios.
MATADORS (ABC) - Zach Gilford ("Friday Night Lights") is likewise the first to sign onto the drama pilot, about "two feuding Chicago families, one in the district attorney's office and the other in the city's most influential private law firm." He's believed to be playing Alex Galloway, a third-generation Chicago defense attorney who's in the midst of a "Romeo & Juliet"-esque romance with a member of the other clan. Sony Pictures Television is behind the hour, which comes from creator Jack Orman.
NO ORDINARY FAMILY (ABC) - Emmy-winner Michael Chiklis ("The Shield") is set to topline the drama pilot, about a typical American family who gains special abilities after their plane crash lands into the Amazon River. He'll play Jim Powell, the clan's patriarch who acquires super strength, in the ABC Studios-based project. In addition, he'll serve as a co-executive producer alongside co-creators Greg Berlanti and Jon Harmon Feldman. David Semel ("Rex Is Not Your Lawyer") is also on board to direct and executive produce.
OPEN BOOKS (CBS) - Laura Benanti ("Eli Stone") has landed the lead role on the comedy pilot, about a book editor at a small boutique publishing house in New York. She'll play said woman, June Gage, in the project, which comes from Warner Bros. Television. Gail Lerner penned the multi-camera half-hour and is executive producing.
RIDE ALONG (FOX) - Todd Williams has scored a role on the drama pilot, about "one of Chicago's toughest cops as he struggles to clean up the corruption in town." He'll play Isaac Joiner, "a beat copper who thrives on the adrenaline of his job." Shawn Ryan is behind the hour, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television.
THE QUICKENING (A&E) - The cable channel has apparently passed on the drama pilot, about "a bi-polar LAPD detective must wrestle with the fact that the medication she has been prescribed makes her "normal" but her disorder, with all the paranoia and risks it comes with, makes her extraordinary." Radha Mitchell toplined the hour, which also starred Amaury Nolasco, Jeffrey Nordling, John Heard and Michael Arden. Jennifer Salt penned the project for Fox Television Studios. No specific reason was given for the decision. A&E has one other drama pilot, "Sugarloaf," still under consideration for a series pickup.
TRUE LOVE (CBS) - Minka Kelly ("Friday Night Lights") has been cast in the comedy pilot, about four twentysomething in New York looking for love. She'll play one of the quartet, Kate Windsor, "a pretty, clean-scrubbed Midwestern who is a sweet but strong-willed romantic." Matt Tarses is behind the project, which is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios. Jamie Tarses also serves as an executive producer via her FanFare Productions.
