Lifetime's 'The Pregnancy Pact,' Starring Thora Birch, Nancy Travis and Camryn Manheim, to Premiere January 23
New Original Movie Inspired by Massachusetts High School Students' Alleged 'Pregnancy Pact'
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 -- Television is taking on the issue of America's rise in teen pregnancies with the Original Movie, The Pregnancy Pact. Golden Globe( )and Emmy( )Award-winner Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer, The Practice), Nancy Travis (The Bill Engvall Show, Becker) and Golden Globe-nominee Thora Birch (Ghost World, American Beauty) star. Inspired by a true story, the film explores the costs of teen pregnancy set against the backdrop of the infamous alleged 2008 "pregnancy pact" in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The Lifetime Original Movie The Pregnancy Pact premieres on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 9 pm (ET/PT).
ABOUT THE PREGNANCY PACT
Sidney Bloom (Birch), an on-line magazine journalist, returns to her hometown to investigate the sudden spike in teenage pregnancies at her old high school. Almost immediately, she comes up against Lorraine Dougan (Travis), the head of the local conservative values group and mother of Sara, a newly pregnant 15-year-old. Meanwhile, the school nurse (Manheim) tries to convince the school to provide contraception to students to address the pregnancy epidemic but is met with great opposition from the school and community. As the number of pregnant girls climbs to 18, a media firestorm erupts when Time Magazine reports that the rise in the number of pregnancies at the school is the result of a "pregnancy pact." As the mystery unfolds about whether or not "the pact" is real, Sidney soon realizes that all of the attention is disguising the much larger issues that are at the core of the story.

Sertner and Frank von Zerneck (Lifetime's Acceptance, Lifetime Movie Network's Natalee Holloway) will serve as executive producers. Rosemary Rodriguez (Acts of Worship, Rescue Me) directs from a script written by Pamela Davis (House) and Teena Booth (Lifetime's Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal, Lifetime Movie Network's Natalee Holloway).
