TBS Prepares to Count Down the Year's Funniest Advertising In Sixth-Annual FUNNIEST COMMERCIALS OF THE YEAR Special, Hosted by Kevin Nealon

Of all the "Best Of..." lists issued at the end of the year, one that has really captured the attention of comedy fans is TBS's enormously popular special FUNNIEST COMMERCIALS OF THE YEAR, now entering its sixth year. Comic actor Kevin Nealon (Weeds, Saturday Night Live) will return to host this year's hilarious one-hour compilation, which will be shot in various locations throughout New York City. In addition, viewers will once again be invited to go online to TBS's VeryFunnyAds.com to watch and vote on their favorites from a list of 10 finalists.

FUNNIEST COMMERCIALS OF THE YEAR: 2009, which premieres Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), will feature 50 different commercials from around the globe, many seen for the first time on American television. In addition to Nealon serving as host, the special will feature cameo appearances to be announced later.

Ten commercials have been chosen as finalists to be voted upon by viewers. The finalists will be available for viewing online at VeryFunnyAds.com from Nov. 15 Nov. 30. Votes will then be tallied, with the #1 "Funniest Commercial of the Year" unveiled at the end of the special after a top-10 countdown.

For the past six years, TBS has presented the highly rated FUNNIEST COMMERCIALS OF THE YEAR specials each December. In addition, TBS presents various World's Funniest Commercials specials during the year, each revolving around a particular theme. The collection began in December 2004 with the year-end special, which last year was watched by 3.8 million viewers. In 2006, TBS began airing summer specials that feature commercials from around the globe. That same year also marked the launch of VeryFunnyAds.com.

TBS's FUNNIEST COMMERCIALS OF THE YEAR: 2009 is produced by Robert Dalrymple Productions in conjunction with IMG Media. Robert Dalrymple and Steve Mayer serve as executive producers.

Nealon is a familiar face to television viewers, thanks to his long run on Saturday Night Live playing numerous memorable characters from 1986 to 1995. He garnered an Emmy nomination for his writing on the series. He is currently a popular fixture on the critically acclaimed comedy series Weeds and provides the title character's voice in the Nickelodeon animated series Glenn Martin DDS. Nealon's list of feature credits includes such movies as Aliens in the Attic, Get Smart, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, Anger Management and Daddy Day Care.

Robert Dalrymple is a Peabody and Emmy-winning television producer whose most recent productions include Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials, for CBS in conjunction with IMG Media productions; the American Cinematheque Specials, for TNT and AMC; and Showtime's adaptation of Sam Sheppard's True West. Dalrymple is perhaps best known for Billy Joel's tour in Russia, Billy Crystal's first comedy special from Russia and the CBS production of pianist Vladimir Horowitz's return to Moscow after 62 years. He won Emmys for Free to Be a Family and a documentary on Itzhak Perlman's tour of Russia, and was nominated for The King & IRecording a Hollywood Dream. His television movies include Shame, Baby Brokers and A Christmas Romance.

In recent years, IMG Media has produced the Peabody Award-winning Colour of War for The History Channel and the Emmy-nominated Christopher Reeve documentary Courageous Steps. Fall 2004 saw the launch of two new IMG Media's reality series: Manhunt, a companion series for Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, set in the world of male modeling, and I'd Do Anything, an ESPN series that questions how far a contestant would be willing to go for their loved ones in pursuit of the ultimate sports fantasy. IMG Media also produced the upcoming Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting for NBC.
