LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS is rolling back "NUMB3RS," trimming its 22-episode sixth season to 16 installments.
The news comes as the series has faded to the Eye's least-watched program on Friday nights (7.72 million viewers, 1.75 rating among adults 18-49 through six episodes), behind "Ghost Whisperer" (8.29 million viewers, 2.02 rating among adults 18-49) and recent acquisition "Medium" (8.15 million viewers, 1.95 rating among adults 18-49).
Canadian import "Flashpoint" is widely expected to assume the show's Friday, 10:00/9:00c slot early next year however no firm plans have been announced.
Meanwhile, 11 other series on the network have been extended: "CSI: Miami," "How I Met Your Mother," "NCIS," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "Two and a Half Men" will all produce 24 episodes this season (up from 22) while "The Big Bang Theory," "Criminal Minds," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: NY," "The Good Wife" and "The Mentalist" are now good for 23 installments (also up from 22).
