Now, a treasure trove of these archival materials, many rarely seen, has been meticulously pieced together to present a gripping, new chronological account of the Kennedy assassination and its aftermath. The cameras do the talking in the narratorless documentary JFK: 3 Shots that Changed America, premiering on Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (Part 1) and Monday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (Part 2) on HISTORY�.
Comprised exclusively of eyewitness source material, the four-hour film takes cin�ma v�rit� to the next level, immersing viewers in the story of the assassination and its aftermath as though for the first time. The archives were amassed from a variety of sources including personal home movies, Dallas police dispatches, televised interviews, and raw news footage. Nicole Rittenmeyer and Seth Skundrick, producers of HISTORY's presentation 102 Minutes That Changed America, recently honored with three Emmy� Awards including Outstanding Nonfiction Special, culled through thousands of hours of audio and visual footage acquired from a range of different sources in order to create a clear and invaluable historic record of this chapter in history.
Part 1 traces the hours before JFK's assassination on November 22, 1963 through the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald less than 48 hours later. Part 2 chronicles the enduring controversies that emerged as succeeding generations of Americans struggled to make sense of the sudden murder of an unforgettable leader.
