Discovery, Animal Planet, Others Lock in More Premieres
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Cable siblings Discovery and Animal Planet have locked in their late summer premieres while History and Fox Reality have also booked a few additional entries.

Here's a breakdown of the latest news from each network:

-- Animal Planet will roll out newcomer "Monsters Inside Me" this Wednesday, July 1 at 9:00/8:00c. The hourlong series looks at the "stealthy, cunning creatures that have taken up residence in their unsuspecting hosts." Also due this week: the second season premiere of "Untamed & Uncut" on Sunday, July 5 at 9:00/8:00c. And finally on Thursday, July 23 at 8:00/7:00c, look for "Wild Russia," a six-part series about the natural wonders of said region, including Kamchatka, Ussuriland, Caucasus, Siberia, the Arctic and Urals.

-- Discovery then will launch "The Colony" on Tuesday, July 21 at 10:00/9:00c after "Deadliest Catch." The reality series is "an experiment that simulates a post-apocalyptic world in which 10 volunteers (colonists) are tasked with surviving and rebuilding everything from scratch, using only raw ingenuity and supplies they scavenge from their environment."

-- Also on tap at Discovery are new seasons/episodes of "Extreme Loggers" (Wednesdays at 9:00/8:00c starting July 15), "Verminators" (Wednesdays at 10:00/9:00c starting July 15), "Man vs. Wild" (Wednesdays at 9:00/8:00c starting August 12) and "American Loggers" (Thursdays at 9:00/8:00c starting August 13). The group joins the previously announced newcomer "Out of Egypt" (Mondays at 9:00/8:00c starting August 17).

-- Fox Reality will offer up the back half of its second season of "Battle of the Bods" starting Saturday, July 11 at 10:00/9:00c. Then on August 15, look for "Househusbands of Hollywood" at 9:00/8:00c.

-- Meanwhile, History will bow "That's Impossible" on Tuesday, July 7 at 10:00/9:00c. The series explores the - you guessed it - seemingly impossible stories and inventions from history and the technology that could turn science fiction into reality.

-- And lastly, TNT has quietly shuffled its new reality series "Wedding Day" to Thursday nights at 8:00/7:00c. The change, which actually took place last week, comes after its invisible 850,000-viewer opening on June 16.
