BOLDLY GOING NOWHERE (FOX) - "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" actor/writer David Hornsby has joined the cast of the comedy pilot, about what happens day-to-day on an intergalactic spaceship helmed by a rogue captain (Ben Koldyke). He'll play Lt. Lance Grigsby, the captain's devoted right-hand man, who supports his most misguided orders while dealing with a cheating wife and a thieving brother-in-law back home. Like "Sunny," Hornsby is expected to serve on the show's writing staff in addition to his acting duties. Artemis Pebdani, Chad L. Coleman, Lennon Parham and Tony Hale also star in the 20th Century Fox Television-based half-hour, which comes from "Sunny" co-creators Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Rob McElhenney. Wayne McClammy is directing.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS (Showtime) - Jason Butler Harner ("Changeling") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about the Hunt family, which runs a pharmaceutical firm. He'll take over as the middle son, Silas, peacekeeper and perhaps the only sane member of the clan. Jason London originally was tapped for the role however producers opted to recast after the table read for the pilot this week. Ellen Burstyn, Eva Amurri, Josh Lucas, Kimberly Quinn and Tim Blake Nelson also star in the hour, which comes from creator Tim Robbins.
UNTITLED GABRIELLE UNION PROJECT (NBC, New!) - "Night Stalker" alum Gabrielle Union is set to reteam with Frank Spotnitz for a new drama about a detective who must race to save someone's life before it's too late. The project is set up at Universal Media Studios with Spotnitz writing and executive producing. No other specifics were given.
