The quality of CBS News' broadcasts, website and people continues to be recognized by awards committees. The latest awards go to 60 MINUTES, CBSNews.com and Director of Surveys Kathleen Frankovic.

60 MINUTES gets its second Sigma Delta Chi award of the season from the Society of Professional Journalists, this time for "The Purge," Scott Pelley's report on the persecuted Christian community in Iraq broadcast Dec. 2, 2007. The win came in the TV Feature Reporting for a Network/Top 25 Market category. Shawn Efran and Phil Itner produced the story; Catherine Herrick is the associate producer; Andy Soto, the editor. Jeff Fager is the executive producer of 60 MINUTES.

CBSNews.com wins its third EPpy award in six years for Best Overall Network TV/Cable Affiliated Internet Service. The Editor & Publisher-distributed award is considered the highest honor for new media. Michael Sims is Vice President, CBSNews.com.

Frankovic, also a producer at CBS News, received the Award for Exceptionally Distinguished Achievement, a lifetime achievement award, from the American Association for Public Opinion Research. The award is given for an outstanding contribution to the field of public opinion research, including advances in theory, empirical research and methods; improvements in ethical standards; and promotion of understanding among the public, media and/or policy makers. Past recipients of the award, first presented in 1955, are George Gallup, Warren Mitofsky and Andrew Kohut. Frankovic is the fifth woman to receive it.
