TONY AWARD-WINNING STAR OF STAGE AND SCREEN WHOOPI GOLDBERG TO HOST "THE 62ND ANNUAL TONY(R) AWARDS," TO BE BROADCAST LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL IN NEW YORK, SUNDAY, JUNE 15 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen Whoopi Goldberg ("Thoroughly Modern Millie") will host THE 62ND ANNUAL TONY� AWARDS, the most anticipated evening in American theater, to be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York, Sunday, June 15 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET; delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. Goldberg is currently the moderator on the television talk show "The View."
"I'm very excited to be hosting the Tony Awards," said Whoopi Goldberg. "I love Broadway and I'm thrilled to be doing anything for the first time. I'm gonna have a blast."

Whoopi Goldberg is one of a very elite group of artists who have won the Grammy ("Whoopi Goldberg," 1985), the Academy Award ("Ghost," 1991), the Golden Globe ("The Color Purple," 1985 and "Ghost," 1991), the Emmy (as host of AMC's "Beyond Tara: The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel," 2002) and a Tony (Producer of "Thoroughly Modern Millie," 2002), as well as countless other awards and honors as an actor, producer, host and author. She currently moderates "The View."
The ceremonies, presented by Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing, have been broadcast on CBS since 1978. The Tonys were founded in 1947 as a memorial to Antoinette ("Tony") Perry, the American Theatre Wing's World War II chairperson.
This will mark the 11th year that the historic Radio City Music Hall is home to the Tonys.
Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment return as executive producers. Weiss, who won an Emmy Award for the 2005 broadcast, will also serve as director for the eighth consecutive year. Elizabeth Ireland McCann returns as managing producer and Joey Parnes will serve as coordinating producer for Tony Award Productions.
