April 17, 2008 (Burbank, California) - The CW announced today that "Gossip Girl," which returns to the air with original episodes Monday April 21, (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET), will only be available on The CW for the final five episodes of the year: April 21, April 28, May 5, May 12 and May 19. These episodes will not be available for streaming.
"For these next five weeks the epicenter of the `Gossip Girl' universe will be on The CW's broadcast television airwaves," said Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment.
In addition to its regular timeslot Mondays at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET, encore episodes of "Gossip Girl" will air Sundays from 6:00-7:00 p.m. ET as part of The CW's EasyView rebroadcast.
The CW will continue to provide exclusive online content to fans anxious to dial in to all things "Gossip Girl," at cwtv.com, now and in the weeks ahead. New online content at cwtv.com will include post-episode interviews with "Gossip Girl" executive producer, Josh Schwartz, with commentary, analysis and a tease of future story arcs; exclusive behind-the-scenes moments featuring the stars of the show shot entirely on location in New York City (where "Gossip Girl" films); two-minute trailer recaps of every episode posted the day after Monday airings; and exciting Watch-and-Win contests where lucky fans can earn a trip for two to Manhattan to live like a "Gossip Girl." Additionally, the passionate "GG" community can win a chance to host viewing parties, win prizes and get exclusive, character-based widgets who know that what it all comes down to is XOXO.
The first 12 episodes of this season's buzzworthy new drama will still be available for streaming on cwtv.com for new viewers seeking to catch up before the show's return April 21, or for fans anxious for another dose of "Gossip." Additionally, episodes of the show will continue to be available on iTunes.
Filmed in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, "Gossip Girl" is from Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros.
