Disney-ABC Television Group actors captured 11 nominations for the 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), announced this morning. ABC, boosted by eight nominations for actors appearing in ABC Studios series, received the most nominations of any network with 11.
ABC Studios critically-acclaimed series "Ugly Betty" received three nominations, the most for the network and studio, for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and nods for last year's winner America Ferrera and first-time nominee Vanessa Williams for Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Previous SAG winners "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy," both produced by ABC Studios, were recognized for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy and Drama Series respectively. Additionally, "Boston Legal" recorded a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and series star James Spader received his third straight Actor nomination for his role as eccentric litigator Alan Shore.
Sally Field follows-up her Emmy win and recent Golden Globe nomination with an Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series nomination. Christina Applegate's portrayal of Samantha Newly, a woman who awakens from a coma with amnesia � and the chance to start over in life - in the #1 new comedy of the season in Total Viewers and A18-49, "Samantha Who," captured a nomination for a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn was among the nominees for Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for "Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day."
The "Lost" stunt team received a nomination in a newly introduced category, Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.
Additionally, ESPN's "The Bronx is Burning," received two actor nominations for Oliver Platt and Jon Turturro.
The 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be presented Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Los Angeles.
