NEW YORK, Dec. 19 -- VH1 Classic is tapping into the
archives of the award-winning CBS News broadcast "60 MINUTES" for the new
series "Classic 60 MINUTES," which revisits some of the biggest names in
pop and rock music, including Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner,
Ray Charles, Elton John, Sting and The Eagles. The first episode, focusing
on Eric Clapton, premieres Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 8:00 PM*.
CBS News correspondent Lara Logan will host the new half-hour series
featuring past "60 MINUTES" interviews expanded with never-before-seen
footage and conversations. "Classic 60 MINUTES" will provide viewers with
an intimate snapshot of their favorite artists complete with in-depth
details and insights as well as an update from Logan on recent news about
these icons.
Lara Logan is the chief foreign correspondent for CBS News and has
filed reports for the "CBS EVENING NEWS" "60 MINUTES," and the CBS Radio
Network. She also was just named one of Glamour Magazine's 2007 "Women of
the Year."
Now in its 40th season, "60 MINUTES" produces in-depth interviews, hard
investigative reports, profiles on people in the news, and feature segments
each week on CBS. The program has won numerous Emmys and is the most
successful broadcast in the history of television.
"Classic 60 MINUTES" debuts on the heels of VH1 Classic's critically
acclaimed "Seven Ages of Rock," the BBC co-production documentary series
that premiered on December 17.
Launched in May 2000, VH1 Classic is a 24-hour network that presents
videos, concerts and music specials all day long, featuring the best of
rock, soul and pop artists from the 60's, 70's and 80's, including The
