NBC.COM MARKS BROADCAST NETWORK FIRST WITH START OF STREAMING OF 'THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO'
NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Joins "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" to Make NBC the First Broadcast Network to Stream Two of Its Late-Night Entertainment Programs on a Broadcast Network Website
BURBANK, Calif. � October 15, 2007 - NBC Digital Entertainment will begin streaming full episodes of NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC.com. The announcement was made today by Vivi Zigler, Executive Vice President, NBC Digital Entertainment.
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" will be the second late-night program from NBC to begin streaming on NBC.com -- crediting NBC as the first broadcast network to stream two late-night programs on a broadcast network website. The streams of each episode will become available on NBC.com the day after the episode has aired starting with the today's October 15 episode. Already on NBC.com are other "Tonight Show" web exclusives, such as "Jay Leno's Garage" and "The John & Ross Show," which together with the rest of the "Tonight Show" suite of sites receive more than 3.3 million unique monthly visitors.
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has been the most watched late-night talk show for more than 12 seasons, with viewers tuning in each night to catch Jay's monologue, his signature comedy pieces such as "Headlines" and "Jaywalking," and his A-list guests from the worlds of politics and pop culture.
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" is from Big Dog Productions in association with Universal Media Studios. Debbie Vickers is the executive producer.
"Late Night with Conan O'Brien" was the first broadcast network late-night entertainment program to stream on a broadcast network website. The streams of the nightly episodes become available the next day. This show also has an enthusiastic online fan base, which is well served by a number of unique offerings ranging from the Emmy-nominated original animated series "Pale Force" on NBC.com to the Internet sensation, HornyManatee.com.
Currently in its 15th season, "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" has been referred to as "the most cunning talk show around" by Entertainment Weekly and took home an Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards.
