The N's Degrassi: The Next Generation Wins Its Second Teen Choice Award as Series Gears Up for Season Seven Premiering Fall 2007

Hit Teen Show Wins The Coveted Surfboard As The 'Choice Summer Series' Of 2007

NEW YORK, Aug. 27 -- Teens everywhere have spoken, texted and voted and made it official -- The N's Degrassi: The Next Generation has once again taken home the coveted surfboard at this year's Teen Choice Awards in the category of "Choice Summer Series." The teen award marks Degrassi's second win in the same category, winning first in Summer, 2005. The Ninth Annual Teen Choice Awards were hosted by teen queen Hilary Duff and actor / comedian Nick Cannon and aired live on FOX last night Sunday, August 26 in Universal City, CA at the Gibson Amphitheatre. Degrassi: The Next Generation is currently in production in Toronto on season seven with 24 new original half-hour episodes set to premiere on The N this Fall. The award-winning series also enters syndication across the country this September.

"Degrassi has become an international phenomenon and our viewers can't get enough of the award-winning series," said Sarah Tomassi Lindman, Senior Vice President and General Manager, The N. "Our second Teen Choice Award comes on the heels of what is sure to be our best season yet. With season seven premiering this Fall and Degrassi also entering syndication, the hit series is sure to deliver all the teen angst that our fans love while introducing the series to a brand new audience around the country."

"How cool is it that Degrassi gets to take home another Teen Choice surfboard?" says Stephen Stohn, Degrassi's Executive Producer. "This fantastic win comes at a really exciting time for us as the series gears up for daily syndication throughout the US starting just next week."

Other nominated series for "Choice Summer Series" included America's Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, The Singing Bee and Don't Forget The Lyrics. Arriving for red carpet duty and taking in the Awards Ceremony from the Gibson Amphitheatre were Degrassi: The Next Generation cast members: Stacey Farber (Ellie Nash), Aubrey Graham (Jimmy Brooks), Adamo Ruggiero (Marco Del Rossi), Shane Kippel (Gaven "Spinner" Mason) and Stefan Brogren (Archie "Snake" Simpson).
