ALL NEW PROGRAMS FOR SEPTEMBER

TORCHWOOD U.S. PREMIERE

Created by Russell T. Davies, writer of the new Doctor Who series and Queer as Folk, Torchwood is an action-packed, adrenalin-fuelled new sci-fi series following the adventures of a team of investigators who use alien technology to solve crime. The team, led by the enigmatic, ever-watchful Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), uses scavenged alien technology to solve present day crime both alien and human. They're separate from the government, outside the police and beyond the UN. Everyone who works for Torchwood is young, under 35. Some say that's because it's a new science. Others say it's because they die young.

Torchwood premieres Saturday, September 8, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Please note: Every Saturday night, tune into two episodes from the second season of Doctor Who at 7:00 p.m. before U.S. premiere episodes of Torchwood at 9:00 p.m. David Tennant stars as the regenerated Doctor Who in the second season of this updated sci-fi classic. Join the Doctor and Rose (Billie Piper) on their out-of-this-world adventure.

LEAD BALLOON U.S. PREMIERE

Written by and starring Jack Dee, one of the UK's most successful comedians, Lead Balloon is the story of Rick Spleen, a disillusioned stand-up comic whose career has not gone the way he planned. Hosting corporate events, appearing on second-rate daytime chat shows and fronting cheap DVDs was not what he dreamed of as a young man. Worse still, he's stuck with a lousy stage name that he chose 20 years ago. Whether he is being accused of putting on weight, or worrying about accidentally poisoning another performer, Rick combines a mass of neuroses and petty grievances with a terrible propensity for lying.

Lead Balloon premieres Saturday, September 8, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

THE WORLD STANDS UP U.S. PREMIERE

Tune in each week when The World Stands Up presents the best and the freshest stand-up comedy on both sides of the pond.

The World Stands Up premieres Saturday, September 8, 10:40 p.m. ET/PT.

ULTIMATE FORCE U.S. PREMIERE

An action-packed new drama follows the adventures of a Special Air Service (SAS) unit (the UK equivalent of the Navy Seals). Alex Leonard (Sendhil Ramamurthy, Heroes) is among new recruits who have joined the team led by tough, charismatic soldier, Henno Garvie (Ross Kemp, Extras, EastEnders). From infiltrating guerrilla activities and terrorist hijacks, to top-secret undercover operations and out-witting mastermind criminals team members put their lives on the line each week for the SAS.

Ultimate Force premieres September 25, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

HOW CLEAN IS YOUR HOUSE?, SEASON FIVE U.S. PREMIERE

Dust-busting divas, Kim Woodburn and Aggie MacKenzie, return for a filthy fifth season, tackling some of the messiest, most cluttered, and disorganized homes ever seen. Armed with helpful tips, tough love and some major elbow grease, each week the ladies whip a new set of homeowners into shape, turning their horrifying homes into shiny new diamonds.

How Clean Is Your House? premieres September 4, 7:30 p.m. ET.

THE BRIT MOVIE THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY

Every Sunday night, BBC AMERICA showcases the best of British movie talent with titles including Calendar Girls, Layer Cake and Shallow Grave. In September, check out award-winning cult classic, The Long Good Friday, starring Bob Hoskins as a wealthy gangster who fights back hard when rival mobsters try to cut in on his business. Also starring Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

The Long Good Friday premieres September 9, 8:00 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
