LIFETIME Television's Sizzling Summer Continues as Network Snares Two Prestigious 2007 Emmy Award Nominations

'Why I Wore Lipstick To My Mastectomy' Garners Outstanding Movie Nod And Gena Rowlands Named In Best Actress Category For 'What If God Were The Sun?'

-- 'Lipstick' Based on Memoir by Lifetime's Director of Public Affairs Geralyn Lucas --

NEW YORK, July 19 -- On the heels of the successful launch of its new Sunday night original drama lineup -- including "Army Wives," the network's most-watched series ever -- Lifetime Television was honored today with two prestigious 2007 Emmy Award nominations by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The Lifetime Original Movie "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy," the centerpiece of the network's 2006 "Stop Breast Cancer for Life" public awareness and advocacy initiative, was named in the Outstanding Made for Television Movie category. Academy Award(R) nominated and Golden Globe(R) and Emmy(R) Award-winning actress Gena Rowlands received a nomination as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role in the Lifetime Original Movie "What if God Were the Sun?"

Lifetime Networks produces 60 original movies a year, more than any other network, broadcast or cable. Among major producers of original movies, Lifetime Original Movies rank #1 among HH, P2+, W18-34 and W18-49.

The nomination for "Lipstick" comes as the network gears up for its 13th annual "Stop Breast Cancer for Life" campaign in October, which will include original programming, extensive online content, community outreach and legislative advocacy.

Sarah Chalke ("Scrubs") and Jay Harrington ("Desperate Housewives") starred in "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy," based on the feisty memoir of the same name by Geralyn Lucas, breast cancer survivor and Lifetime's Director of Public Affairs, who works on the Network's award-winning breast cancer awareness campaign. "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy" was the bold, touching and often irreverent drama that tells the story of a 27-year- old self-proclaimed "gloss girl" diagnosed with breast cancer, whose long- lasting matte red lipstick she applies before her mastectomy surgery becomes the metaphor for her transition to the confident woman she always wanted to be.

"Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy" was produced by Grossbart Kent for Lifetime Television. Jack Grossbart and Linda Kent ("Any Mother's Son," "Unforgivable") were the executive producers. Peter Werner (Lifetime's "Gracie's Choice" and "We Were the Mulvaneys") was the director. The teleplay was by Nancey [sic] Silvers (Lifetime's "Mom at Sixteen," "Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman").

Lacey Chabert ("Mean Girls," "Party of Five") co-starred with Rowlands ("The Notebook," "Gloria") in "What if God Were the Sun?," inspired by the novel by John Edward, a stirring drama about a cynical emergency room nurse who forms an exceptional connection with a terminally ill patient and how that bond changes her life forever.

Gena Rowlands received an Academy Award(R) nomination for Best Actress for her roles in "Gloria" and "A Woman Under the Influence," both written and directed by her late husband John Cassavetes. She won both a Golden Globe(R) and Emmy(R) Award for her role as the title character in the telefilm "The Betty Ford Story;" an Emmy(R) for both "In the Face of a Stranger" and HBO's "Hysterical Blindness" and a Golden Globe(R) for "A Woman Under the Influence."

"What if God Were the Sun?" was produced by FOX Television Studios, JECO Productions and Old Beantown Films for Lifetime Television. Brenda Friend ("Joan of Arc," "The Ron Clark Story"), Gina Rugolo Judd ("Just Shoot Me") and John Edward ("Crossing Over with John Edward") were executive producers. Stephen Tolkin (Lifetime's "Nora Roberts' Carolina Moon") was the director. The writers were Janet Dulin Jones ("A Map of the World") and Jamie Pachino (Lifetime's "Not Like Everyone Else").
