OXYGEN LAUNCHES "CREATE-A-SERIES COMEDY COMPETITION"

Winner Will Get Her Own Original Comedy Series On The Networks Broadband Channel SheDidWhat.TV

Comedienne/Actress Molly Shannon To Judge Contest

New York June 26, 2007 Oxygen is kicking off its search for the next great female comedy genius, giving one aspiring woman producer the chance to have her own comedy series on Oxygen's broadband channel, SheDidWhat.tv. The "Create-A-Series Comedy Competition" is on the hunt for bold, sassy and confident filmmakers to create a comedy series that is targeted to women ages 18-39. The winning series will get ten to thirteen episodes, three to five minutes in length, that will air on SheDidWhat.tv. Comedienne and SNL vet Molly Shannon will judge the contest.

Participants must submit a three to five minute concept video online and write a two-page treatment for their idea for an original series at www.oxygen.com/createaseries. Entrants will be judged by veterans in the film and television industry, as well as a panel of development and production experts from Oxygen. The top five finalists will be brought to New York to pitch their series ideas. One lucky winner will receive a $75,000 production budget, a six month broadband series on SheDidWhat.TV, an experienced show-runner to help them develop and produce their series, and promotion of their series on Oxygen and Oxygen.com.

The contest kicks off on June 26 and runs through August 31. Finalists will be flown to New York in October to pitch their ideas to Molly Shannon and a panel of judges drawn from the entertainment world. The winner will be chosen December 15.

SheDidWhat.tv is Oxygen's popular broadband channel that provides on-demand access to Oxygen's programming, offering clips and full episodes of the networks original series and movies, as well as online exclusive "never-before-seen" web content. Oxygen's exclusive broadband series Our Bodies, Myself, a comedy series about womanhood in America, has performed extremely well, and with the marketing support put behind the series it received over a million external video plays on third party sites. Due to its popularity, Oxygen is currently shooting a pilot of the show for the linear network.

"Comedy is in Oxygen's DNA. It's a major part of our TV offering and we're looking to expand that onto our broadband platform," said Cynthia Ashworth, SVP of Marketing at Oxygen. "This contest really has the potential to open doors for an aspiring female comedy creator, and we're thrilled to see what untapped talent is out there just waiting to be discovered."
