LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The CW's cult series "Veronica Mars" and "One Tree Hill" will return during the May sweeps period, the netlet confirmed over the weekend.
"Mars" will resume its third season on Tuesday, May 1 at 9:00/8:00c, while "Hill" will begin new episodes on Wednesday, May 2 at 9:00/8:00c.
Both series were shelved last month in favor of "The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" - the former for its original Tuesday, 9:00/8:00c airings and the latter for its Wednesday, 9:00/8:00c encores.
Meanwhile, ABC has confirmed "Men in Trees" will return to the network's schedule on Thursday, April 12 at 10:00/9:00c. The series will take over for "October Road," which will conclude its initial four-week run on April 5.
As for "Road's" final two installments of its six-episode order, it's understood ABC will use them as part of its sophomore season should it return in the fall. Said convention isn't without precedent: both "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Practice" carried over several installments from their respective midseason runs to their second seasons.
