Film Inspired by the True Story of a Couple Lost in a Blizzard at Christmas time

LOS ANGELES, March 23 -- Principal photography is currently underway in Calgary, Alberta on the Lifetime Original Movie "Christmas Miracle" (working title), about the life-or-death ordeal of an estranged Idaho couple who accidentally get trapped in a blizzard during a snowmobiling trip gone wrong just before Christmas. The telefilm stars Jami Gertz ("Still Standing") and Dylan Walsh ("Nip/Tuck") as the separated couple. "Christmas Miracle" will premiere in December 2007 on Lifetime Television.

"This is a story about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, who prove that keeping the faith really can make miracles happen," said Libby Beers, Vice President, Original Movies, Lifetime Television. "The popular Jami Gertz and Dylan Walsh are perfectly cast as a couple who must put aside their differences in order to stay alive."

In "Christmas Miracle," when Suzanne Shemwell's (Gertz) estranged husband Jim (Walsh) unexpectedly comes to Idaho for a family visit just before Christmas, Suzanne is less than thrilled, but their two daughters, 16-year-old Miranda and seven-year-old Taryn, are ecstatic. As a single parent, Suzanne has the kids lives running on a very tight schedule while Jim's laid-back attitude upsets the delicate balance she has worked so hard to create. On her day off from work, Jim persuades a reluctant Suzanne to go snowmobiling on the local mountain, something they often did when they were married. What starts out as a fun outing turns into a dire situation when a massive blizzard strikes the area and the pair gets stranded in the storm. Previously battling enemies, Jim and Suzanne are suddenly forced to work together in order to survive. Frantic, their family and rescuers attempt every effort to save both of them, but when a second snowstorm comes through and blankets the mountain, the rescue mission is halted. Only a miracle will help Jim and Suzanne reconcile their relationship and return them safely to their family for Christmas.

Jami Gertz most recently starred in the CBS sitcom "Still Standing," which currently airs Monday through Friday on Lifetime. Her additional television credits include a featured role in CBS' "Square Pegs" and guest-starring roles in "Seinfeld," "ER" and "Dream On." She was nominated for an Emmy Award (R) for her guest-starring role in "Ally McBeal." She also starred in the telefims "Gilda Radner: It's Always Something" for ABC and "Undercover Christmas" for CBS. Her feature film credits include "Lucky 13," "Twister," "The Lost Boys," "Less Than Zero" and "Jersey Girl." On stage, Gertz appeared in the Off-Broadway production of Garry Marshall's "Wrong Turn at Lungfish" with George C. Scott. She also starred in "Come Back, Little Sheba" and "Out of Gas on Lover's Leap."

Dylan Walsh is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Sean McNamara on the FX drama series "Nip/Tuck." Previously he had a recurring role on "Everwood." Walsh also appeared in "Brooklyn South" and the HBO film "Final Voyage." Walsh co-starred in the Warner Bros. feature "The Lake House" opposite Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. He also stars in the upcoming independent film "Edmond," written by David Mamet. His additional feature film credits include "Bloodwork" opposite Clint Eastwood; the action-adventure film "Congo" with Laura Linney; "We Were Soldiers" with Mel Gibson; and the critically acclaimed "Nobody's Fool" with Paul Newman. Walsh made his film debut in John Boorman's "Where the Heart Is."

"Christmas Miracle" is produced by Nomadic Pictures for Lifetime Television. Chad Oakes ("Broken Trail"), Mike Frislev ("The Mermaid Chair") and Greg Goodell ("Down Will Come Baby") serve as producers. Greg Goodell also wrote and directs the movie.
