"Heroes of Black Comedy" And Other African-American Comics Featured Throughout February

NEW YORK, January 29, 2007 -- In celebration of Black History Month, COMEDY CENTRAL presents "Hysterical Blackness," a mass hysteria of Black Comedy programming, beginning Friday, February 23 at 10:00 p.m. and running through Sunday, February 25.
COMEDY CENTRAL's "Hysterical Blackness" is an explosive weekend with appearances by some of the hottest stars in Black Comedy. Start the weekend off right with the premiere of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Finesse Mitchell" at 10:00 p.m. and "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Loni Love" at 10:30 p.m. "Friday Night Stand-Up" continues with stand-up specials from Keith Robinson, Kevin Hart and Richard Pryor. The fast pace continues on Saturday as the COMEDY CENTRAL Premiere of "Rush Hour" with Chris Tucker debuts at 8:00 p.m., followed by this year's laughtastic "Jamie Foxx's Laffapalooza" at 10:00 p.m. Movies airing on Sunday include "The Ladies Man" starring Tim Meadows at 9:30 a.m., "Friday" starring Ice Cube at 3:30 p.m. and "Money Talks" starring Chris Tucker at 10:00 p.m.
In addition to "Hysterical Blackness," African-American comics will be featured weekdays at 12:00 p.m. throughout the month of February. Viewers can count on this daily dose of laughter from February 1 through February 27 with such comics as Cathy Ladman, Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Damon Waynes and Sheryl Underwood.
Also, don't miss the return of COMEDY CENTRAL's original series, "Heroes of Black Comedy," airing Monday, February 5 through Friday, February 9 at 3:00 p.m. each day. This five-part documentary-series, narrated by acclaimed actor Don Cheadle, celebrates the work of Richard Pryor, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, and "The Original Kings of Comedy." An additional episode looks at the overall influence of hip-hop comedy.
