�The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess� for the Wii Honored as Game of the Year

LOS ANGELES, December 19, 2006 -- �X-PLAY,� G4�s ultimate source for brutally honest videogame reviews, has announced the winners of the "Best of 2006 Awards," its annual recognition of the year�s greatest achievements in videogames. Game of the Year honors went to �The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.� The awards were announced during a special episode of �X-PLAY� that premiered Monday, December 18. �X-PLAY� delivers the latest game previews and brutally honest reviews every weeknight at 8:00 pm ET/PT.

In a year marked by the eagerly anticipated release of two new game consoles, Nintendo emerged as the big winner among competing hardware manufacturers. Games for the Nintendo Wii garnered top honors in five of the 11 nominated categories, including Best Sports Game (Madden NFL 07) and Best Puzzle/Party Game (Wii Sports). Games for Microsoft�s Xbox 360 garnered three awards, including recognition for Dead Rising as Best Original Game.

Past �X-PLAY� Game of the Year Award winners have included Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003), Halo 2 (2004) and Resident Evil 4 (2005). This is the fourth consecutive year that �X-PLAY� has awarded honors to the best video games of the year
