LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FX has renewed "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" for a third season.
The news comes in spite of lackluster ratings for the series - the show's 10-episode second season averaged just 1.3 million viewers, 880,000 of which were viewers 18-49. Nevertheless, said numbers marked an increase of 15% and 18% respectively from its freshman run in 2005.
15 new half-hours are set to be produced for next summer with cast members Charlie Day, Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito all set to return.
McElhenney, Howerton, Day, Michael Rotenberg, Nick Frenkel and John Fortenberry are the executive producers.
