Surprising Twists and Turns in Cliffhanger Finales Fuel Anticipation for the Start of the New Season

As the new season approaches, CBS will afford viewers the opportunity to catch up on how their favorite series ended last season when it presents a week of encore presentations of last May's cliffhanger finales, beginning Monday, Sept. 11.

With the exception of THE UNIT, which will have its finale rebroadcast on Friday, Aug. 25, CBS will encore all the other cliffhangers during the week prior to the start of the 2006-2007 season which launches on Monday, Sept. 18.

The week will include the cliffhanger finales of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, TWO AND A HALF MEN, CSI: MIAMI, NCIS, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: NY, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, GHOST WHISPERER and WITHOUT A TRACE.

So where did the Network's series leave off last season? The following recaps CBS's season-ending cliffhangers and the airdates of their rebroadcast:

? THE UNIT (Friday, Aug. 25, 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Jonas (Dennis Haysbert) and his team assist the U.N. in capturing a Bosnian general who is a war criminal. However, unbeknownst to the team, the criminal escapes U.N. custody and seeks revenge on the Unit. Back in the states, while attending Col. Tom Ryan's (Robert Patrick) wedding celebration with their wives, the Unit is blindsided when the war criminals surprise them on their home turf and begin shooting.

? HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (Monday, Sept. 11, 8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Ted (Josh Radnor) finally wins over Robin (Colby Smulders) while Lily (Alyson Hannigan) has gone off to art school in San Francisco leaving Marshall (Jason Segel) and her engagement ring behind.

? TWO AND A HALF MEN (Monday, Sept. 11, 9:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) -- While at the altar, Charlie (Charlie Sheen) breaks off his wedding to Mia (Emmanuel Vaugier) only to have Alan (Jon Cryer) and Kandi (April Bowlby), in the heat of the moment, exchange wedding vows instead. Alan notifies Charlie that he and Jake (Angus T. Jones) will be moving out.

? CSI: MIAMI (Monday, Sept. 11, 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Horatio (David Caruso) mourns the loss of his slain wife, Marisol (Alana de la Garza), while the killer flees to Brazil.

? NCIS (Tuesday, Sept. 12, 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is gravely injured in a terrorist explosion while on assignment. After waking from a coma, he is plagued by memories of the past he has struggled to suppress and makes the decision to retire from NCIS.

? CRIMINAL MINDS (Wednesday, Sept. 13, 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) -- The Behavioral Analysis team search for a psychopath who challenged them with coded clues and riddles in order to save his most recent victim. However, the psychopath turns up in Elle's (Lola Glaudini) apartment, threatening her with a gun.

? CSI: NY (Wednesday, Sept. 13, 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) -- The CSIs face their toughest challenge yet when a bomber using cell phone pages detonates bombs across the city. Det. Flack's (Eddie Cahill) life hangs in the balance as he suffers severe injuries during the explosions while Mac (Gary Sinise) feels remorse for not being able to get Flack and his team out of harms' way, just like he was unable to save a fellow Marine during the Beirut barracks bombings.

? CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (Thursday, Sept. 14, 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Grissom (William Petersen) ponders his own mortality following the shooting of Capt. Brass (Paul Guilfoyle). It is also insinuated that Grissom and Sara (Jorja Fox) have secretly been having an intimate on-going relationship.

? GHOST WHISPERER (Friday, Sept. 15, 8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Following a tragic plane crash, Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is caught in a tug of war with a familiar evil force over Andrea's (Aisha Tyler) fate.

? WITHOUT A TRACE (Sunday, Sept. 17, 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) -- Jack (Anthony LaPaglia) learns that his girlfriend and colleague, Anne (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), is pregnant and must deal with the professional and personal ramifications of her pregnancy.
