MOLLIE SUE ELIMINATED FROM UPN'S "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL"
Mollie Sue, a waitress from Tampa, Fla., became the fifth girl eliminated from the sixth cycle of UPN's hit series AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL, reducing the pool from 9 girls to 8.
Tyra visited the girls and soon after appeared to faint, sending everyone into a panic. She quickly rose to show that she had faked the fall to demonstrate that to be a successful commercial model you must be convincing.
Later the girls went to the Groundlings Theatre where they met with acting coach Jeremy Rowley for a lesson in improvisation techniques. Although the improv exercises came easy to some of the girls, Mollie Sue appeared to have difficulty, prompting Rowley to ask her to provide more energy and effort.
The following day the girls put their learned skills to the test when they were challenged to perform improv sketches with Nick Cannon of MTV's "Wild'n Out." Mollie Sue once again struggled to bring her personality to the front of the competition. Furonda was crowned the winner of the challenge and landed a guest role on UPN's VERONICA MARS, along with the opportunity for her and Nnenna to record a public service announcement about HIV prevention in support of "KNOW HIV/AIDS," a joint venture between CBS Corporation and Viacom, in partnership with the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Jay Manuel then met the girls for their weekly challenge where each had to once again rely on improv techniques to complete a fresh and enthusiastic commercial shoot for CoverGirl's Clean Liquid Make-up. For the second day in a row, Mollie Sue had difficulty letting her personality shine. "You missed a line and there was nothing engaging about your delivery," Jay told Mollie Sue.
During the week's elimination ceremony, the judges viewed each girl's commercial to determine who would be eliminated. While Jade found herself in the bottom two for the first time, it was Mollie Sue who seemed to have the most difficulties throughout the week. "You are not here because you take bad pictures, but because of something we call lack of persona," Tyra told Mollie Sue before eliminating her from the competition.
The winner of UPN's AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL will have the opportunity to be managed by Ford Models. She will also receive a $100,000 contract with cosmetics giant CoverGirl. Finally, the winner will appear in a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
The sixth installment of UPN's hit dramality series AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL follows 13 young women as they attempt to prove they have what it takes to make it in the high-stress, high-stakes world of modeling.
