FOX EXTENDS LATE-NIGHT LAUGHS WITH "TALK SHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN" (WORKING TITLE) FOR FALL 2006
FOX has ordered the late-night comedy TALK SHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN (working title) for fall 2006, to air on Saturday nights (Midnight-12:30 AM ET/PT) following the network's critically acclaimed sketch series MADtv.
TALK SHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN is a fast-paced half-hour show that combines traditional elements of the talk show format with bold and irreverent comedy sketches - both inside and outside the studio. Hosted by Emmy-nominated writer Spike Feresten ("Seinfeld," "The Late Show with David Letterman"), the show pokes holes in the staid late-night format by skewering the very conventions that have made talk shows so predictable. Rather than a straight sit-and-talk format with celebrities, this refreshing approach to the genre will have guests deliver the monologue and participate in comedy sketches. Additionally, the show includes hilarious field pieces, mock commercials and pop-culture parodies and has a live studio audience.
FOX's Senior Vice President of Late-Night Programming Todd Yasui executive- produced the test pilots of TALK SHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN, which was developed by FOX's Alternative Department. The show is a production of Fox Television Studios and is executive-produced by Feresten.
