NEW DRAMA 'THIEF' SET TO PREMIERE

FX'S NEW DRAMA "THIEF" SET TO PREMIERE ON MARCH 28th

Six Episodes Air Tuesdays at 10 PM E/P Beginning One Week Following the Season Finale of "THE SHIELD"

Emmy Award Winner Andre Braugher Stars as Head of a Robbery Crew

LOS ANGELES, January 19, 2006 ? FX's new drama Thief (TV-MA) starring Emmy Award winner Andre Braugher will make its premiere on March 28th at 10 PM E/P. The limited-order series, six episodes, will air Tuesdays at 10 PM for six consecutive weeks beginning one week after the season finale of The Shield.

FX completed production of the six episodes of Thief in mid-December. The pilot episode was shot on location in New Orleans in August in 2004 and received a limited, six-episode commitment in March of 2005. The series was originally set to begin production in New Orleans the second week of September, but had to be relocated to Shreveport as a result of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Thief focuses on a crew of thieves led by "Nick Atwater" (Andre Braugher) who find themselves in profound danger and at a moral crossroads. It also follows the unlikely father-daughter relationship between Atwater and his 14-year-old stepdaughter (Mae Whitman), who forces him to confront the lies which have defined his carefully ordered world. While the crew tries to pull off the most dangerous heist of their career ? stealing $40 million from the U.S. government earmarked for the war on drugs in South America ? their lives are complicated by the guilt they feel at the murder of one of their own, a crooked cop looking to clean up his own image with a big takedown, and a terminally ill killer sent by the Chinese Mafia looking to settle a score of their own.

Thief was written and created by Norman Morrill (The Visitor), who will serve as Executive Producer alongside David Manson (Nothing Sacred) and Gavin Polone (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Gilmore Girls). The series is produced by Regency Television.

Braugher, the acclaimed veteran of television and film, won an Emmy Award for his memorable performance as "Det. Frank Pembleton" in Homicide: Life on the Street.

Other members of the ensemble cast include Malik Yoba (New York Undercover), Yancey Arias (Kingpin), Clifton Collins, Jr. (Capote), Mae Whitman (Arrested Development), Will Yun Lee (Die Another Day), Michael Rooker (Lucky), Dina Meyer (Birds of Prey) and Linda Hamilton (The Terminator).

Thief is FX's fifth drama, following in the footsteps of The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, and the critically acclaimed but short-lived Iraq War skein Over There.

FX is the flagship general entertainment basic cable network from Fox. Launched in June of 1994, FX is carried in more than 87 million homes. The diverse schedule includes a growing roster of distinctive original series and movies, an established film library with box-office hits from 20th Century Fox and other major studios, an impressive roster of acquired hit series, and marquee sports such as NASCAR.
