ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. -- November 30, 2005 -- NBC Universal Cable invites you to celebrate the holidays with Universal HD this December with an entire week of marathons featuring the very best HD programming from 2005.
On Christmas weekend, be sure to catch the "I'm Dreaming of an HD Christmas" marathon. Programming includes the USA Originals '12 Days of Christmas Eve' and 'Stealing Christmas,' along with special Christmas episodes of 'The District' and 'Complete Savages'. The Musical Marathon begins Saturday night at 9pm/ET, featuring 'The Wiz,' followed by 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and 'Xanadu.' Christmas afternoon wraps up with family-friendly fare 'The National Dog Show' Presented by Purina, 'The Incredible Dog Challenge,' and 'The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas,' followed by the blockbuster hit 'Backdraft,' all in brilliant high definition.
Monday, December 26 is 'The 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour' Marathon, where all five stops of one of this year's most exciting sporting events will be presented in stunning high def. Stops include the Panasonic Open, Right Guard Open, Vans Invitational, Toyota Challenge, & Playstation Pro.
Experience your favorite victories of 2005 again with the "2005 Day of Champions" on Tuesday, December 27. This back-to-back marathon kicks off with the best breeds showcasing their athletic abilities in the 2005 Purina 'Incredible Dog Challenge' semifinals, which features top talent and remarkable speed from hurdle racing and dog driving to high jump and freestyle flying discs. Next, relive the legendary 2005 US Open match between Andre Agassi and James Blake at 12pm/ET, followed by more best in show at 'The National Dog Show' Presented by Purina at 3pm/ET. The most exciting and final stop during this year's Dew Action Sports Tour was The Playstation Pro in Orlando where Dew Action champions were crowned in Freestyle Motocross, Skate Vert and BMX Dirt among other disciplines. Finally, if you missed it the first time, now's your chance to see Notre Dame battle USC in high definition at 8pm/ET.
HD stands for "High Drama" with a full day of dramatic programming on Wednesday, December 28. The lineup includes 'The District' and 'Law & Order: SVU' Marathons, followed by 'Paradise Alley,' 'The Front Page,' 'Hard to Hold,' 'How to Make an American Quilt,' and 'The Pianist.'
Spend Thursday December 29 laughing with Universal HD's "Day of 1000 Laughs," featuring 'Beethoven's 4th,' 'K-9: P.I.,' 'Playing for Keeps,' 'Doctor Detroit,' 'Midnight Run,' 'Nurse Betty,' and 'The Complete Savages.'
December 30, the final Friday of 2005, is "Lights, Camera, ACTION!" day on Universal HD with 'Karen Sisco' and 'Medical Investigation' Marathons, 'Airport '77,' 'Smokey and the Bandit II,' 'Midnight Run,' and 'The Fast and the Furious.'
Finally, on Saturday, December 31, Universal HD wraps up 2005 with the best of Sci Fi, featuring a 'Century City' Marathon, where each episode handles difficult cases in the future. Feature films include 'Silent Running' at 11am/ET as a crew journeys to save earth, followed by 'They Live' at 12:30pm/ET and 'Decoys,' where students aren't the only species on campus. The day continues with 'Dragonheart' at 3:30pm/ET and Jean-Claude Van Damme in 'Timecop' at 7pm/ET. Rounding out the marathon is SCI FI Channel's signature miniseries, 'Battlestar Galactica' followed by David Lynch's sand world odyssey, 'Dune.'
