SCI FI CHANNEL AND NBC NEWS PRODUCTIONS PREVIEW NEW DOCUMENTARY ON 60-YEAR OLD MYSTERY OF MISSING PLANES AND CREWS

CONGRESS HONORS 27 AIRMEN LOST IN "BERMUDA TRIANGLE"

Washington, D.C.-November 17, 2005-SCI FI Channel and NBC News Productions today previewed for Members of Congress, congressional staff and the media their upcoming (November 27) documentary on the mysterious disappearance of Flight 19.

Sharing the podium with NBC/MSNBC News Anchor Lester Holt and SCI FI executives Bonnie Hammer and Dave Howe, Congressman Clay Shaw (R-FL) announced that the House of Representatives unanimously passed his resolution honoring the 14 airmen who disappeared after taking off from the Ft. Lauderdale Naval Air Station on December 5, 1945 during a routine training mission and the 13 men aboard a rescue plane that also disappeared.

SCI FI Channel's documentary, 'The Bermuda Triangle: Startling New Secrets,' narrated by Lester Holt, focuses on the disappearance of five Navy Avenger torpedo bombers and a Mariner rescue plane sent to find them as part of the largest search in maritime history. All six planes and 27 crewmen disappeared without a trace giving rise to the legend of "the Bermuda Triangle." The 2-hour special premieres Sunday, November 27th at 9:00PM ET/PT.

"The disappearance of Flight 19 and the Mariner rescue plane remains to this day one of the world's most enduring and compelling mysteries," said Bonnie Hammer, President, USA Network and SCI FI Channel. "With 'The Bermuda Triangle: Startling New Secrets,' we at the SCI FI Channel partnered with our colleagues at NBC News in an effort to shed some new light on this extraordinary event."

"To find out what may have happened on that fateful day we utilized the latest in underwater technology and NASA satellite imaging, researched historical materials, consulted Navy historians, and interviewed surviving family members and retired Navy personnel," commented Dave Howe, Executive VP and General Manager, SCI FI Channel.

Attending the news conference and preview were David A. Bright, a Nautical Scientist, who explored the Titanic and was hired by SCI FI Channel to conduct the underwater search, and David White, a Navy pilot who was part of the 1945 rescue effort and who is featured on the documentary.
