"CSI: NY" Places First In All Key Measurements for Second Consecutive Week
"Criminal Minds" Scores Time Period's Largest Audience With Regularly Scheduled Programming Since Feb. 03
CBS Finishes Strong Second in Key Demos
On one of the most competitive nights of the week -- facing off against "Lost" and baseball -- CBS turned in an impressive Wednesday night performance, with "Criminal Minds" showing strong week-to-week growth and "CSI: NY" increasing its first place lead, according to final national Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 12.
CRIMINAL MINDS (8.9/13, 13.76m) was second in viewers, adults 25-54 (5.4/12) and adults 18-49 (4.2/10), up from last week by +13% in households (from 7.9/12), +15% in viewers (from 11.98m), +23% in adults 25-54 (from 4.4/10) and +27% in adults 18-49 (from 3.3/08). CRIMINAL MINDS posted this time period's largest audience with a regularly scheduled program since 2/26/03's 60 MINUTES II (which had Dan Rather's interview with Saddam Hussein), best adults 25-54 delivery since 11/26/03 (THE KING OF QUEENS/BECKER with a SURVIVOR special as a lead-in) and in adults 18-49 since 3/16/05 (THE KING OF QUEENS/YES DEAR with a SURVIVOR special lead-in).
CSI: NY was first in households (9.8/16), viewers (15.23m), adults 25-54 (6.3/15) and adults 18-49 (5.3/14). CSI: NY easily topped NBC's "Law & Order" by +32% in households (vs. 7.4/12), +47% in adults 25-54 (vs. 4.6/10), +51% in adults 18-49 (vs. 3.5/09) and +39% in viewers (vs. 10.92m -- nearly a 4.5 million viewer lead). CSI: NY beat "Invasion" by +32% in households (vs. 7.4/12), +13% in adults 25-54 (vs. 5.6/13), +10% in adults 18-49 (vs. 4.8/12) and +31% in viewers (vs. 11.58m -- over 3.6 million viewer lead). Compared to last week, CSI: NY was up +2% in households (from 9.6/15), +4% in viewers (from 14.57m), +11% in adults 25-54 (from 5.7/14) and +15% in adults 18-49 (from 4.6/12).
For the night, CBS (8.0/13, 12.37m) placed a strong second in adults 25-54 (5.0/12) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (4.0/10, with FOX's baseball).
