The Premiere of the Three-Time Emmy Award Winning "The Amazing Race," This Edition Featuring Teams of Family Members, Significantly Improves the Year Ago Time Period in All Key Demographics

"The Amazing Race" Tops The Premiere of "Commander in Chief" In Adults 18-49

"NCIS" Wins Its Time Period in Viewers and Key Demographics For the Second Consecutive Week

The premiere of the eighth edition of the three time Emmy Award winning THE AMAZING RACE, this time featuring teams of four family members, added younger viewers to the time period with significant year-to-year increases, according to preliminary Nielsen affiliate ratings for Tuesday, Sept. 27.

THE AMAZING RACE: FAMILY EDITION (6.7/10, 10.71m) was second in adults 25-54 (5.2/11, -0.1 behind NBC), adults 18-49 (4.4/11) and adults 18-34 (3.6/10).

Compared to the 9:00-11:00PM time period premieres last September ("Clubhouse" and "Judging Amy" on 9/28/04), CBS was up +58% in adults 25-54 (from 3.3/08), +76% in adults 18-49 (from 2.5/06), +125% in adults 18-34 (from 1.6/05) and +4% in viewers (from 10.31m).

From 9:00-10:00 PM, THE AMAZING RACE topped the premiere of "Commander in Chief" in adults 18-49 (4.4/11 vs. 4.3/10) as well as NBC's "My Name Is Earl/The Office" comedy block (4.4/11 vs. 4.2/10).

At 8:00PM, NCIS was first in households (9.6/15), viewers (14.63m), adults 25-54 (4.6/12) and adults 18-49 (3.4/10) for the second consecutive week this season.

For the night, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (5.0/12), second in households (7.7/12), viewers (12.02m, -0.17m behind ABC) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (4.0/10, with FOX and -0.1 behind NBC).

Final Tuesday ratings will be available this afternoon.

THE AMAZING RACE: FAMILY EDITION (6.6/10, 10.64m) was second in adults 18-49 (4.4/11), adults 18-34 (3.7/10) and tied for second in adults 25-54 (5.2/11, with ABC and -0.2 behind NBC).

Compared to the 9:00-11:00PM time period premieres last September ("Clubhouse" and "Judging Amy" on 9/28/04), CBS was up +58% in adults 25-54 (from 3.3/08), +76% in adults 18-49 (from 2.5/06), +131% in adults 18-34 (from 1.6/05) and +3% in viewers (from 10.31m).

From 9:00-10:00 PM, THE AMAZING RACE was in a dead heat with ABC's "Commander in Chief" as well as NBC's "My Name Is Earl/The Office" comedy block among adults 18-49 (4.3/11 for each network for the hour).

At 8:00PM, NCIS was first in households (9.8/15), viewers (15.09m), adults 25-54 (4.8/12) and adults 18-49 (3.4/10) for the second consecutive week this season.

For the night, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (5.0/12), second in households (7.7/12), viewers (12.12m, -0.16m behind ABC) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (4.1/11, with FOX and -0.1 behind NBC).
