NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2005 -- Can Hollywood handle the truth? David Spade is bringing the same insiders' knowledge and cutting commentary that he first popularized on "Saturday Night Live" to COMEDY CENTRAL's "The Showbiz Show with David Spade." The new, weekly series poking fun at the entertainment industry and those who cover it premieres on Thursday, September 15 at 10:30 p.m.

Hosted and produced by Spade and produced with his long-time creative partner and Emmy Award-winning writer Hugh Fink, "The Showbiz Show with David Spade" is a half-hour, topical, comedy series about Hollywood, celebrity and the entertainment industry. The new show will have fun with all of Hollywood's self-importance, hypocrisy and mediocrity by using actual footage, clips and on-location field pieces, along with celebrity guests and comic personalities who appear as critics and correspondents.

Encore presentations of "The Showbiz Show with David Spade" will air on Thursdays at 12:30 a.m., Fridays at 11:30 p.m., Saturdays at 8:30 p.m., Sundays at 10 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., and Mondays at 8:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

Spade is best known for his five-year stint as a cast member on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and his Emmy-nominated role as Dennis Finch on "Just Shoot Me." He was also nominated for Golden Globes in 1999 and 2000 and an American Comedy Award in 1999 for his work on "Just Shoot Me." Spade's work in films continues to grow and his credits include "Tommy Boy," "Blacksheep," "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star," "Joe Dirt," "Reality Bites," "Coneheads," and many others. Spade was also the voice of a horsefly in "Racing Stripes" and the lead voice in Disney's "Emperor's New Groove." Spade will next be seen starring in Sony's upcoming spring comedy, "Benchwarmers." He will star alongside Rob Schneider and "Napoleon Dynomite's" Jon Heder for Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions.

As an Emmy Award-winning writer for NBC's famed "Saturday Night Live," Fink not only earned a reputation for his irreverent lampooning of pop culture but was also featured as a performer on the show's "Weekend Update." Fink continues to stay active in stand-up comedy and has been featured on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," as well as a COMEDY CENTRAL half-hour comedy special. Most recently, Fink's seven years of work on "Saturday Night Live" were rewarded when he received an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Program" ? only the second time "SNL" has won this award.
