NBC GETS SURGE FROM 'WINDFALL,' NEW DRAMA SERIES FOR MID-SEASON 2005-06
Luke Perry, Jason Gedrick, Sarah Wynter and D.J. Cotrona Among Ensemble Cast
BURBANK, Calif. -- July 21, 2005 -- NBC has picked up a new drama series -- "Windfall" -- for mid-season 2005-06, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment.
"With its dueling themes of dreams coming true and 'be careful what you wish for,' 'Windfall' is both fun and provocative," said Reilly. "We feel like we found a diamond-in-the-rough when this pilot became available."
"'Windfall' has been one of Regency Television's passion projects, and we're so glad the show has found a home on NBC," said Robin Schwartz, president, Regency Television.
In "Windfall," money changes everything for a group of 20 young adult friends who pool their cash to buy and win a record $386 million lottery jackpot -- only to see their initial ecstasy tempered by the thorny, romantic and social complications caused by instant wealth.
Their good fortune prompts each winner to react differently, and the overwhelming cash windfall presents unexpected marital, ethical, legal and criminal problems for the wide range of newly rich celebrants. "Windfall" is a production of Regency Television. Laurie McCarthy ("Felicity," "CSI: Miami") is the executive producer of the series.
The ensemble cast includes Luke Perry ("Beverly Hills, 90210"), Jason Gedrick ("Boomtown"), Lana Parrilla ("Boomtown"), Sarah Wynter ("24"), D.J. Cotrona ("Skin"), Jon Foster ("The Door in the Floor"), Alice Greczyn ("The Dukes of Hazzard") and Jaclyn DeSantis ("Road Trip").
In May, NBC announced that it also had designated two new comedy series for mid-season in "Four Kings" and "Thick and Thin." Earlier this month, NBC announced that it also had picked up "Book of Daniel" for mid-season.
