Court TV(R) Rules: Two is Better Than One!
Daytime Renamed Court TV News; Primetime Repositioned as Court TV Seriously
Entertaining(SM)
LOS ANGELES, July 14 -- Court TV(R) "ruled" that it is
dividing the network into two, reflecting its distinctly different daytime and
evening schedules of news and entertainment. On Monday, July 18th Court TV
will officially become Court TV Networks(SM) consisting of Court TV News(SM)
during the daytime schedule and Court TV Seriously Entertaining(SM) on the
evenings and on weekends.
"This is the next logical step in our evolution as the brand leader in
coverage of all aspects of our system of justice," said Art Bell, President
and COO of Court TV Networks(SM). "Moreover, it recognizes the different
interests and needs of our viewers and advertisers, in further delineating our
daytime schedule under the moniker -- Court TV News(SM); and, our evening
schedule of compelling investigation-related series and documentaries,
important award-winning issue related movies and reality-based fare aimed at
our growing younger demographic, all under the tagline -- Court TV Seriously
Entertaining(SM)."
In daytime, Court TV's schedule has become the premier destination for all
legal news and now ranks second in household ratings among all news networks
competing in the time period, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. The exclusive and in-depth
coverage of trials and related proceedings provided by the network has
contributed to its important and unique brand value. Indeed, Court TV's
anchors and reporters are considered the leading experts in the field for
their articulate and experienced analysis, making them popular as both hosts
of their own shows on Court TV(R) as well as in high demand as guests on other
broadcast and cable networks.
In primetime, Court TV Seriously Entertaining(SM) expands on its
successful investigation-related programming, which has built a tremendously
loyal following. As part of the continuing effort to attract both a larger
and younger audience in primetime, the network will roll out a slate of
several new non-fiction series, specials and original movies.
"Our goal in the evening is to build on our momentum as the brand leader
in investigation and extend our appeal through more contemporary, faster paced
reality-driven programming aimed at our growing younger demographic," said
Marc Juris, General Manager of Court TV.
As part of the expansion into the entertainment arena, new series in
primetime include "The Takedown," "LA Forensics," and "Parco PI." Returning
series include the network's popular signature shows: "Forensic Files,"
"Psychic Detectives" and "Dominick Dunne's Power, Privilege and Justice."
Court TV(R) provides a window on the American system of justice through
distinctive programming that both informs and entertains. The Court TV
Networks(SM) are comprised of Court TV News(SM), which provides live gavel-to-
gavel trial coverage in daytime; and Court TV: Seriously Entertaining(SM) in
primetime, featuring investigative drama, expert reality and relevant non-
fiction series. Court TV is 50% owned by Time Warner, and 50% owned by
Liberty Media Corp, and is seen in 85 million homes. (http://www.courttv.com or AOL
