Showtime Networks Hit Series 'The L Word(R)' Nabs Some of Today's Most Acclaimed Independent Film and Theater Directors for Its Third Season

PRODUCTION ON SEASON THREE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 7, 2005 -- As Showtime gears up production on the third season of its hit series THE L WORD, it has assembled an impressive line-up of acclaimed independent film and theater directors to helm upcoming episodes of the popular series. Among them are Trica Brock ("Killer Diller"), Billie Eltringham ("This Is Not A Love Song"), Bronwen Hughes ("Forces of Nature"), Moises Kaufman ("The Laramie Project"), Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry"), Academy� Award-winner Frank Pierson ("Soldier's Girl" "Cool Hand Luke," "Dog Day Afternoon"), Angela Robinson ("Debs"), Burr Steers ("Igby Goes Down") and Rose Troche ("Go Fish").

"The show has been called both liberating and lurid, but how about literate and loving as well," said director Frank Pierson. "It's about something and it's playful. And it's going to be fun." Pierson added, "The writing is terrific, the actresses are terrific, so I'll have to be terrific. That's a challenge worth taking."

THE L WORD, chronicles a group of friends living in Los Angeles � both gay and straight � through stories of career, family, inner struggle, friendship and romantic relationships. The series has become a critical and ratings success, penetrating the American zeitgeist and ushering in a new wave of gay and lesbian programming that is changing the television landscape. The series stars Jennifer Beals, Erin Daniels, Leisha Hailey, Laurel Holloman, Mia Kirshner, Katherine Moennig, Pam Grier, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Shelley and newest cast member, actor Dallas Roberts.
