NEW REALITY SHOW MATCHES WITS WITH TWITS, HOTTIES WITH NOTTIES
I'm smart. I've got a really high I.Q. I think my I.Q. is probably about 500.
- Lauren, Beauty
Because I'm so busy with the Dukes of Hazzard fan club, I have trouble meeting women.
- Bill, Geek
Producing partners Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg (Guess Who, Punk'd) bring reality television's latest social experiment, BEAUTY AND THE GEEK, to The WB for six episodes beginning on Wednesday, June 1 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). The announcement was made today by David Janollari, President, Entertainment, The WB.
Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg have gathered 14 new subjects to conduct their latest research project on human behavior. Part social experiment, part competition, all heart BEAUTY AND THE GEEK is a look at what happens when good looks meet good grades.
Beauty and the Geek is the perfect summer show: fun, sexy and brimming with great heart and humor, said Mr. Janollari. Ashton Kutcher and his producing partner Jason Goldberg have brought us a six-episode competition that really freshens the reality genre, and is bound to create buzz and rooting interest among our young audience.
We gave seven guys a fantasy and seven girls a reality check, said executive producer Ashton Kutcher, Katalyst Films. Ultimately, that's what Beauty and the Geek is.
It all starts with seven women who are academically impaired. Next, add seven men who are brilliant but socially challenged. The concept is to pair up couples for a chance to win a $250,000 grand prize. Each mismatched pair competes in various activities designed to test intellect, fashion savvy and even dance moves. There's a spelling bee for the girls, massage lessons for the guys, and an introduction to actual rocket science when the girls compete to see who can build a working rocket. During these competitions, the geek must try to pass his brains onto the beauty, while the beauty tries to pull the game out of the geek. They're so far apart on the social spectrum that they're practically different species, but if they make it to the end, they could both walk away gifted and gorgeous.
