ABC ENTERTAINMENT WINS FOUR PRISM AWARDS

"Desperate Housewives," "Lost," "All My Children" and "8 Simple Rules" Star Katey Sagal Honored

ABC's "Desperate Housewives," "Lost," "All My Children" and "8 Simple Rules" star Katey Sagal were honored with the Entertainment Industries Council PRISM Award at the 9th annual ceremony held in Beverly Hills, CA on April 28, 2005. The PRISM Award honors programs which best exemplify the accurate depiction of drug, alcohol, tobacco use and addiction.

"Desperate Housewives" won for Television Comedy Multi-Episode Story Line for the episodes "Anything You Can Do," "Guilty" and "Running to Stand Still," in which Felicity Huffman's character, Lynette Scavo, becomes addicted to her children's ADD medication. "Desperate Housewives" is produced by Touchstone Television.

"Lost" won for Television Drama Multi-Episode Story Line for the episodes "Pilot," "House of the Rising Sun" and "The Moth," in which Dominic Monaghan's character, Charlie, overcomes his heroin addiction. "Lost" is produced by Touchstone Television.

"8 Simple Rules" star Katey Sagal won for Performance in a Comedy Series for the episode "Consequences," in which Katey Sagal's character, Cate Hennessy, had to confront her daughter after finding marijuana in her bag. "8 Simple Rules" is produced by Touchstone Television.

"All My Children" won for Television Daytime Drama Multi-Episode Story Line for the episode entitled "Erica's Intervention." "Erica's Intervention" depicted how Emmy-Award winning actress Susan Lucci's character, Erica Kane, deals with alcohol addiction. After the death of her daughter's baby and also the death of her father, Erica, who has a history of pill addiction, turned to alcohol to escape her pain. In a series of emotional episodes, Erica's family rallies around her, leading to an intervention. With her family's support, Erica realizes her problem and eventually gets the help she needs. "All My Children" is produced by ABC Daytime.
