Comedys biggest stars are headed to TBS for EARTH TO AMERICA, a two-hour comedy extravaganza featuring top Hollywood talent in an evening of comedy, music and message to raise awareness of issues concerning the environment. The telecast will feature such well-known celebrities as Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Will Ferrell, Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller, Ray Romano, Jack Black and Larry David, as well as major sports figures and music performers. EARTH TO AMERICA will be taped at The Comedy Festival at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Nov. 17, for telecast later on TBS.

"As the television destination for comedy, TBS is the perfect home for EARTH TO AMERICA," said Steve Koonin, executive vice president and chief operating officer of TBS and sister network TNT. "We are proud to be able to bring the best comedy talent in the industry to our audience of comedy lovers for what is certain to be an extraordinary television event. "

EARTH TO AMERICA will feature stand-up comedy, videotaped vignettes, comedy sketches and musical performances. The special comes to TBS from The Comedy Festival and creator Laurie David, who will also serve as an executive producer with Pat Tourk Lee, John Moffitt and Bob Crestani. An all-star writing team has also been assembled, including Eli Attie (The West Wing); Scott Carter (Real Time with Bill Maher); Greg Daniels (King of the Hill); Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm); Scott Jacobson, Jason Reich and Steve Bodow (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart); Chris Kelly (Real Time with Bill Maher); Adam McKay (Anchorman); George Meyer (The Simpsons); Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam); Phil Rosenthal (Everybody Loves Raymond); and Mike White (School of Rock).

"Comedy can be a very powerful tool to entertain and to educate, and that is the goal for Earth to America," said David.

In addition to the comedy and musical entertainment, the show will honor environmental heroes, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. EARTH TO AMERICA began as Earth to LA and quickly grew to its present form. Last year, it raised $3 million for the Natural Resources Defense Council.

EARTH TO AMERICA is part of The Comedy Festival, taking place Nov. 17-20 in Las Vegas and featuring more than 50 performances, events and screenings. TBS serves as title sponsor for The Comedy Festival, produced in conjunction with HBO and live-event producer AEG Live. The Comedy Festival will be held in nine performance venues, all housed at Caesars Palace and the Flamingo Las Vegas, with high-profile events at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and The Flamingo Showroom. It will bring together the biggest stars and cutting-edge comedy talent in a broad range of programming, from star-level performances and special events to stand-up, sketch comedy and film.

TBS is televisions "very funny" network, serving as home to such hot contemporary comedies as Sex and the City, Everybody Loves Raymond, Family Guy, Seinfeld and Friends; high-profile original series, such as The Real Gilligans Island and Outback Jack; blockbuster movies; and hosted movie showcases.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, is a major producer of news and entertainment product around the world and the leading provider of programming for the basic cable industry.
