JOHN LARROQUETTE CONFESSES TO CHEATING
John Larroquette - a five-time Emmy Award winner who stars as a sleuthing defense
attorney in "McBride" - one of Hallmark Channel's new Mystery Movie franchises - can identify
whodunit, as well as why and how, before reading even half of any script. The secret to his power
of ratiocination? He cheats!
"I always read the last page first, so, yeah, I know exactly what's going to happen," he
admits. "I read backwards. I think, with these kinds of (puzzle-driven) shows, it's important to
look at the thread of the plot. And looking at it in reverse sometimes is easier than looking at it
forward to see that all of the building blocks stay in place. So I sort of cheat in that regard."
Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the endings first for his Sherlock Holmes mysteries. So who are we to
quibble with Larroquette's methods?
"It's Murder, Madam," the next installment of "McBride," premieres Friday, February 4
(9/8c).
