CBS HAS OPTIONED THE RIGHTS TO AMBER FREYS LIFE STORY
AND HER NEW BOOK, WITNESS: FOR THE PROSECUTION OF SCOTT PETERSON, FOR A NEW LONG FORM PROJECT TO BE BROADCAST ON THE NETWORK
The Book Is Currently The #2 Best-Seller on Amazon.com
CBS has optioned the rights to Amber Freys life story and her new book Witness: For the Prosecution of Scott Peterson, the account of her relationship with the recently convicted murderer, for a new long form project. The book is currently the #2 best-seller on Amazon.com. The story will be developed into a 2-hour movie for broadcast on the CBS Television Network.
Witness: For the Prosecution of Scott Peterson tells the previously untold story of a woman who finally meets the man of her dreams only to learn that he may have had a role in the disappearance of his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Connor. Then, Amber Frey contacted the police investigating the case to assist law enforcement trying to find her. In the process, her own normal life is forever changed as the most intimate personal details of the young single mothers life are reported daily in the media. Pressure builds as Amber takes considerable risks for justice and realizes her testimony and taped telephone calls with Scott Peterson will be key to the prosecutions case against him.
Deceived by Scott Peterson, Amber Frey found herself at the center of one of the most explosive and emotional murder trials in recent history. Her story has captured widespread media attention and viewer interest. Having the rights to her life story, as well as her book, provides an opportunity to tell new dimensions of the story and give viewers a personal look into one of the most notorious crimes of the past decade, said Bela Bajaria, Sr. Vice President, Movies and Mini-Series.
Braun Entertainment Group will produce the television movie. Zev Braun and Philip Krupp (Lethal Vows, Menedez: A Killing in Beverly Hills, Tour of Duty) are the executive producers. Donald Martin (Rikers, Family Sins) will serve as the writer. Gloria Allred, Amber Freys attorney, represented her in the negotiation.
