LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- There's no joke this time: "Punk'd" will be around for three more seasons at MTV.
The cable channel announced this week a three season, 24-episode renewal of the popular hidden camera series. One aspect that remains up in the air however is Ashton Kutcher's involvement as host. While he's set to continue in said duties for the time being, it's understood the actor/producer may step aside at some point in the future, in lieu of a new host.
"Punk'd" finished its third season in June where it averaged 3.2 million viewers, including 1.9 million among adults 18-49, making it the show's most-watched season to date.
New episodes are set to air as part of the network's "Sunday Stew" lineup in early 2005. "Stew" itself however will return on October 24 with new episodes of "Pimp My Ride" and "Viva La Bam" as well as the premiere of Kutcher's (and producing partner's Jason Goldberg) latest offering, "You've Got a Friend."
